Latin America: Methodology
Euromoney’s second Latin American company ranking is based on a survey of market analysts at major banks and research institutes in Latin America. We received 63 replies (up from 57 replies for 2006). Respondents were asked to nominate the top three companies in each of the countries or sectors they covered, bearing in mind market strength, profitability, growth potential and quality of management and earnings. Points were awarded on a scale of 4:3:2 for first, second and third-place nominations respectively. Companies’ results are presented as a percentage of total points received in each category, together with the number of companies that received points in each category. In total, we received nominations for 279 companies for all categories.
A number of other countries and industry sectors were included in the survey, but did not receive enough responses to be published.
