Traiana appoints new global head of sales

Traiana, the Icap-owned post-trade services provider, has hired Thomson Reuters’ Michael Verkuijl as global head of sales.

In his new role, Verkuijl will be a member of Traiana’s executive team and will report to Gil Mandelzis –chief executive officer of EBS, Icap’s electronic FX platform – until newly appointed Andy Coyne assumes his post as chief executive of Traiana. Coyne, who takes over Mandelzis’ former position, left Citi earlier this month where he was head of FX prime brokerage and G10 e-commerce.

Based in London, Verkuijl will be responsible for expanding Traiana’s sales relationships across all asset classes.

Before joining Traiana, Verkuijl spent eight years with Thomson Financial and then Thomson Reuters, where he was most recently global head of investment banking sales. Prior to Thomson, Verkuijl held sales management positions at Bloomberg.

Traiana, now the industry-standard platform for electronically processing over-the-counter FX, was co-founded by Mandelzis in 2000.

It provides global banks, broker dealers, buy-side firms and e-trading platforms with systems to automate post trade-processing of financial transactions in FX, equities, fixed income and other products.

The Harmony network connects more than 500 financial institutions to Traiana’s post trade-processing service, and as of March 31 was processing an average of 1.1 million transactions per day.

That represents an increase of more than 25% from the same period in 2011, according to Icap’s first-quarter results.
