FX people moves: Citi has a yen for hiring

Our April fool’s day story about Citi’s hiring spree appears to have been accurate, at least so far as Citi Japan is concerned. Four hires in one week!

Minako Sugita has joined Citi in Tokyo on its G10 FX e-commerce team. She will report to Hiroki Takatori in Japan and Susan Gammage globally. Gammage herself joined Citi only last month as head of G10 e-FX sales (Citi looks to build on e-comm surge).

Sugita was previously at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in FX sales to Japanese banks and securities companies and at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank.

Hiromitsu Izawa has also joined Citi in Tokyo to run FX structured products marketing and sales for Japanese banks and securities companies. He will report to Salim Zaman, Citi’s head of bank sales in Japan.

Izawa was previously responsible for bank sales at Standard Chartered; before that he was an FX structurer at Deutsche Securities.

Yoshiko Kato and Rio Uzuhashi have joined Citi Tokyo’s Japanese corporate FX sales team. They will report to Takashi Fujii.

Kato’s move is a coming-home: she started in FX sales at Citi Tokyo in 1991, but has spent the last six years at Standard Chartered Tokyo.
