Charlie Berman, a long-standing veteran of the debt origination business at Citi, is moving internally to a new job in investment banking. Berman is a Salomon stalwart, who during a long career has run European debt capital markets, either jointly or solely, and the frequent borrower business.
In his new role, Berman will report into Tom King, head of EMEA banking. King was given an expanded role in June that includes corporate banking, investment banking and capital markets origination. This is the first time Citi had managed to put all its origination client businesses under one umbrella.
The new head of European fixed income capital markets is Berman’s co-head – Eirik Winter. In addition to becoming sole head, Winter has overall responsibility for the European debt syndicate team.
Atiq ur-Rehman and Michael Lavelle, co-heads of capital markets for EMEA will also report into King.
