Surveys

Best managed companies in Asia 2014: Methodology

Euromoney’s annual Asia company ranking is based on a survey of market analysts at leading banks and research institutes in Asia. Polling takes place from September 9 to October 25 and Euromoney targets equity analysts covering Asian companies. Respondents are asked to nominate the top-three listed companies for each of the following categories: most convincing and coherent strategy; best system of corporate governance; most accessible senior management; most transparent financial accounts; best for shareholder value; most useful and informative website; most improved performance; and best newly listed.

Votes are then aggregated (with the exception of ‘most improved’ and ‘best newly listed’) to create a table of ‘overall best managed companies in Asia’. This table is then cut by country and industry sector. In country rankings, companies appear where they are listed, rather than headquartered.

Respondents are also asked to nominate their top-three financial exchanges in the Asia region. Points are awarded on the scale of 4:3:2 for nominations for first, second and third place respectively.

This year we received replies from 93 analysts covering nominations for 214 different companies.
