CIBC appoints new head of FX trading in London

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has hired Nick Waite as executive director and head of FX trading in London, the bank has confirmed.

Waite reports locally to Karl Wildi, head of capital markets in Europe, and globally to Toronto-based Duncan Rule, co-head of fixed income and foreign exchange at CIBC.

Most recently, Waite had been head of FX spot trading for Westpac Europe. Before that, Waite was head of FX trading for Citi in Australia and New Zealand, having joined the bank in 2000. He remained there for seven years.

CIBC ranked 40th in Euromoney’s 2012 FX Survey, registering a market share of 0.18%.
