Barclays Wealth appoints head of global FX

Barclays Wealth has appointed Julian Wantling head of global FX, as the wealth management arm of Barclays Bank seeks to grow its FX offering to high-net-worth clients, the company said in a statement.

Based in London, Wantling will start in the newly created role at the end of February and will be reporting to Thomas Fekete, UK and EMEA head of investment products. The bank said the hire was part of the wealth management division’s expansion in FX as client interest in currency products, either for risk-management or alpha-generating purposes, continues to grow.

To this end, Barclays Wealth is also working in close collaboration with investment banking division Barclays Capital, one of the top FX banks and the proprietor of the widely used BARX platform.

Wantling comes to Barclays from UBS, where he was most recently global head of precious metals distribution. In his 25-year career at the Swiss bank, Wantling has worked across FX distribution for the investment bank and wealth management divisions.
