We’ve had to go out on a limb this week, as it seems a lot of banks have suddenly got all anal about their hiring and firing and declined to confirm just who is coming and who is going. We’d prefer it, obviously, if we could be 100% sure that all the moves mentioned below have actually happened. We’re confident they have, but without our good friends at the banks playing ball, there is just an element of doubt.

HVB continues hiring spree

Full marks to HVB, part of the UniCredit markets and investment bank, for confirming it has hired Simon Eagle from Bank of America. The bank is clearly beefing up its FX operations and the much-travelled Eagle will join it to run FX derivative sales

Commerz rumoured to have lost one but gained two

It is rumoured that John Juer has left Calyon, where he was an FX quant, and headed off to Commerzbank. Both banks decline to comment. Market sources also suggest Commerz has hired Enrico Ferrantie, an FX structurer, from Bank of America (BoA). Again Commerz declines to comment.

Bank of America lose a further two and gain one

As well as losing Enrico Ferrantie, BoA has also reportedly seen the departure of Frank Weissbach, an exotics option trader. Weissbach is believed to be heading off to Calyon, which again refuses to comment. Meanwhile, Joe Landes, a senior a senior FX trader at Dresdner Kleinwort in New York, left the bank on April 18, and is believed to be on his way to BoA.

Fengels leaves Eurex for FXMarketSpace

Jeanette Fengels is believed to have left Eurex’s London office to join FXMarketSpace.
