Equity market round up: The month in money

$20,500,000,000 The value of equity capital raisings postponed or withdrawn so far in 2008, according to Dealogic. The value of deals pulled is more than 10 times as much as the $1.9 billion over the same period in 2007 and is the highest ever on record.

$100,000 The amount a year spent by two-thirds of US and European equity firms on transaction cost analysis alone, according to Tabb Group estimates. Larger firms, the consultancy estimates, now spend over $200,000 on such technology to estimate and measure the market impact of their trading.

$6,500,000,000,000 The value of global assets under management driven by quantitative analysis at the end of 2007, as estimated by consultancy Aite Group. The figure constitutes 12% of all assets under management globally and is expected to reach 14%, or $10.86 trillion, by 2010.
