Reuters and EBS keyboards

It seems a little game is being played out between EBS – which I should call Icap FX spot – and Reuters.

I hear both companies are ready to allow the buy side to access their platforms by keyboard, but that both are waiting for the other to do so first. A few years ago, this was a major issue for the sell side. Just why it should remain so now is beyond me. All those who want to get involved can do so through an API, which I assume is a far more flexible and faster way to access the market. Perhaps I should send out a question to my readers: Does anyone really care anymore if Reuters and EBS let the buy side have keyboards?
