FX people moves: New hires at RBC Capital Markets – Eric Olson, Ron Goldshmidt, Russell Jones

Eric Olson and Ron Goldshmidt have joined RBC Capital Markets’ emerging markets team in New York. Olson joins from HSBC as managing director and head of emerging markets USA trading. Goldshmidt comes in as a director from UBS, where he headed the bank’s local markets fixed income and derivatives trading operation.

“These hirings are great additions to the team and underscore our commitment to building a world class, multi-product, emerging markets business,” said John Greenslade, head of FIC, Europe and head of emerging markets for RBC Capital Markets, and the only guy I know who has ridden L’Etape du Tour in a fireman’s outfit.

“Both Eric and Ron bring a wealth of experience in trading local currency FX and interest rate markets.  We plan to continue to make strong additions as we build out our emerging markets business around the globe,” he added.

Also joining RBC is Russell Jones. Jones will be head of fixed income and currencies global research, and starts his new role with Adam Cole, who will become the head of global FX strategy research. Russell, who will be based in RBC Capital Markets’ London office, will report to Bill Moriarty, head of global research and Craig Wright, chief economist.
