Equity round up: The month in numbers

110 the percentage increase in SEC-registered ECM volume from the mining sector year-to-date. Mining companies have raised $6.7 billion via 11 deals so far this year, compared with $3.2 billion via nine deals over the same period in 2006.

16 the one-day percentage return for US IPOs worth $1 billion and more so far in 2007. The year-to-date figure is up from 14% in 2006.

16,000,000,000 the amount in dollars pulled out of US equity funds in one week in June. More than $9 billion was withdrawn from the iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund and more than $7 billion from the SPDR S&P500 ETF. "These outflows are being attributed to rebalancing by institutional investors," says Cameron Brandt, an analyst at EPFR, a company that tracks global fund inflows. "If the overall trends we’ve been seeing over the past few years hold up, that money will probably filter into global and emerging markets funds over the next few weeks. Since 2002, the non-US equity funds we track have absorbed more than five times the amount of new money taken in by US funds."
