OTP also confirmed its strong reputation in the international bond markets with a well-received €500 million upper tier 2 capital issue in October last year. Earlier in June it had become the first bank from an EU accession state to launch a benchmark covered bond, a €750 million five-year issue. BNP Paribas wins the best debt house award for its extensive track record of deals for Hungarian borrowers, spanning a €200 million PIK notes transaction for telco Invitel, a first for the region; a €500 million upper tier 2 capital deal for OTP Banka; and €500 million and €1 billion transactions for the Republic of Hungary.
