Dresdner's speed dating strategy

These days it's no fun being an analyst, what with all the sniping at your reputation. Imagine if, on top of that, you're struggling to find a date.

Take Albert Edwards of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein's global investment strategy team. Last month he produced a report called It's tough on The Street in which, amid professional discourse, he describes his experiences of meeting the opposite sex.

"At the age of 42, I find myself single again," he says. "Believe you me, it's tough out there on them streets! Last night, I was forced to go speed dating...!"

Edwards explains that a friend dragged him into it but he managed to enjoy the evening. "To be honest, it went better than I expected," he writes. "After four bottles of Becks, everyone seemed very nice and we were all there to have fun anyway."

Wrapping up the report, he gives his clients a stop press update. "Out of the 16 women who were there, I had four matches," he says. "That was a lot better than I had expected. Especially as the friend with whom I went and who was following on after me as I spoke to each woman, said that one woman asked if I was gay.
