Nomura hires former RBS Asian EM trading chief

Nomura has hired the former head of Asian emerging markets (EM) trading at RBS to run its linear FX trading business in the Asia ex-Japan region, according to Derivatives Intelligence (DI), a sister publication of EuromoneyFXNews.

Stuart Oakley, who left RBS late last month, where he had been head of EM FX trading Asia based in Singapore, has been hired by Nomura as its head of linear FX trading for Asia ex Japan, and will also be given a larger global role, reports DI. In the role, he will be responsible for G10 and EM spot, forward and non-deliverable forward trading, says DI.

A Nomura spokesperson in Hong Kong did not return calls seeking confirmation of Oakley's hire, the report states.

Oakley had run EM Asia currency trading at RBS for less than two years, and was a regular pundit on Bloomberg TV and CNBC on Asian currencies. He began his career at Credit Suisse as an EM FX trader in 1996, before moving to Barclays Capital in 2003.
