FX news: Oanda has first trading app for iPad

Oanda has launched the first iPad FX trading platform application, hot on the heels of its version for iPhone.

The iPad version of the fxTrade app has just been given the go ahead by Apple and is available to download free from iTunes.

The iPad version has been specifically designed by Oanda’s crack team of product developers in Toronto to make the most of the iPad’s large display and touch screen.

Paul Robinson, head of mobile development at Oanda, gave us an insight in to the development of the app: “Touch devices such as the iPad represent a revolution in how people will use trading applications. The direct interaction offered by these devices means people can react faster and customize their view better to develop a deeper understanding of market trends.

“Mobile devices do present a challenge for the traditional developer who is used to coding for the keyboard and the mouse. Interface design must become the primary focus, and every device requires its own native platform to take advantage of unique features. For example, the iPad offers significantly more real estate than the iPhone, so we were able to add more relevant content and features.”
