FX news: June volumes down

Volumes were down across the board in June, which is not much of a surprise after May’s record breaker (Record volumes reported).

CLS settled 19.8 million instructions, compared with 22.2 million in May. Average daily values were unchanged from May at $4.23 trillion, although this was no doubt bolstered by a record day on June 1 when 1,758,902 instructions were settled.

CME averaged 981,000 contracts per day in June, down significantly on May when the average was 1.3 million per day. June’s average daily volume was $118 billion, again down from May’s $161 billion.

Thomson Reuters average daily FX spot volumes for June on Thomsom Reuters Dealing, Matching and Reuters Trade for FX, were $143 billion. This is a sharp drop from May which hit a record breaking $186 billion.
