Standard Chartered has announced several new senior FICC appointments over the past week.

Varun Malhotra joins as co-head of global G10 swaps/bonds. Most recently, he was head of USD swaps/bonds trading for Europe at Citibank London. Before Citibank, Malhotra was responsible for USD swaps at Barclays Capital in New York and London. Even earlier, he was at Bankers Trust in NY and London.

Noyan Ayhan joins as the head of Turkish rates and FX trading. He had been head of Turkey trading at Morgan Stanley and prior to that at BNP Paribas and JPMorgan.

John Banerjee joins the FX team. He has 20 years of experience as a global macro trader on both the buy and the sell side. Previously, he was at Wedderburn, and before that at Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch.

Jeroen Beaard and Ali Mohri join the G10 and short-term interest rates trading desk, focusing on FX swaps, OIS and FRA trading. Beaard joins as a senior trader; he was previously at Rabobank for nine years trading EUR and JPY STIR products. Mohri joins as a trader and was previously at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Nafees Akbarali, regional head of FICC trading for Middle East and North Africa and global head of G10 rates trading says of the new appointees: “Through the global financial crisis, we had seen greater investment flows into FX and despite the increased market volatility we have maintained a steady momentum of growth in our business.
