FX people moves: FXPro hires former minister

FXPro today announced that Michael Sarris, the former government finance minister for Cyprus, has been appointed as non-executive director.

It is quite a coup for FXPro, although a quick search on the internet reveals that Sarris is a popular addition to several Cypriot boards. This year he has joined the boards of Logicom Group and Navios Maritime Partners.

Sarris brings considerable experience to the party; his financial and political career spans 35 years, including at the Central Bank of Cyprus, the Bank of Cyprus and the World Bank, where he stayed until he retired in 2004. He was minister of finance from 2005 to 2008, while Cyprus made its final preparations join the euro.

Panagiotis Xydas, CEO of FXPro, says of the new hire: “FXPro is delighted to make this very important and high calibre appointment. We look forward to welcoming Michael to our team and his unparalleled expertise – accrued over a long and successful career with the World Bank and as minister of finance – will be of great benefit to our business at a time of exciting growth and development. I am sure that Michael will make a significant and valuable contribution as FXPro continues to develop its capabilities to be recognised as the world’s preferred FX broker.”
