In the underwriting section of the Poll of Polls (January issue page 69), Credito Italiano was mistakenly ranked in 11th place, instead of 47th. This means that Bankers Trust Alex Brown enters the top 25 with a total score of 16.39. This breaks down as follows: overall capital raising 6.25, bonds 5.29, MTNS 0.37, ECP 0.77, equities 3.71.
In the emerging markets section of the same issue, we said that Brazil's Unibanco lost R12 million in October because of an open forex position in dollars. In fact the bank reported recurring earnings of R12 million that month including trading results and mark-to-market adjustments to the bank's securities portfolio.
Finally, in the December 1997 issue in the article "Now comes the real crisis" it was DCB Bank not DKB Bank that combined with a subsidiary of Maybank to form RHB Bank.
We apologise for the errors.
