How to choose the right style for alpha


Harriett Baldwin (HB) managing director, is head of the currency group and chairs the Currency Investment Policy Committee (CIPC) at JPMorgan Asset Management. She worked in the firm’s treasury department in New York before transferring to asset management as a currency and fixed income manager in 1991. She assumed her current responsibilities in 1998.
Cyril Beriot (CB) is head of SG CIB’s FX institutional sales desk in London, which focuses on developing FX and derivative sales with asset managers, hedge funds, central banks and proprietary traders. Cyril, 38, started his career in 1991 at Index Futures Group, Chicago, where he worked on options and futures.
Alan Eisner (AE) is managing director in charge of currency trading at Millennium Global Investments. Alan was formerly managing director and CIO of Trinity Asset Management, where in 1997 he established the Trinity Emerging Currency Fund. Before that, 11 years at Salomon Brothers gave him extensive experience in trading both G-10 and emerging market currencies.
Christian Exshaw (CE) is head of European FX sales and structuring at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Christian’s teams focus on delivering solutions for asset gatherers (eg, hedge funds, pension funds and insurers) banks and corporates. In 2005, he was appointed head of electronic FX and FX prime brokerage.
Simon Hard (SH) is managing director and co-head of foreign exchange at Fisher Francis Trees and Watts. Simon has co-managed the firm’s risk-taking FX strategies for the past 16 years.
Bilal Hafeez (BH) is global head of FX strategy at Deutsche Bank. Bilal focuses on the G10 foreign exchange currencies and also manages and contributes to the FX strategy weekly. Bilal created the G10 FX portfolio, which trades and monitors the performance of the FX strategy team’s FX trade recommendations. Bilal has also developed systematic trading indicators, such as the Deutsche Bank risk barometer (DBRB).
Peter Panholzer (PP), who has been managing nothing but currency portfolios since 1979 with leading firms in Canada, Switzerland and the UK, is CEO of DynexCorp, a well known independent currency portfolio manager established in 1990
.
Thanos Papasavvas (TP), director, is head of currency management at Credit Suisse Asset Management with responsibility for segregated, fixed income, equity and total return accounts. He chairs the global currency group and emerging currency group, the two strategy groups that set policy for our currency positions across accounts and for which he was an inaugural member.
Cláudia Quintela (CQ) is a director in the foreign exchange and cash and collateral trading business of UBS Investment Bank and a member of UBS’s currency management advisory team.
Justyn Trenner (JT) has managed ClientKnowledge since its inception in 1993 and has extensive experience working with global wholesale financial institutions. He and ClientKnowledge have developed original business concepts and working models for customers, assisting in business development, client strategy and performance analytics across a range of institutions and markets.
