SEB's global head of cash management, Gerth Svensson, sees a clear correlation between the bank's close relationship with its clients and the fact that its cash management platform has topped the Euromoney technology poll. "I put our success down to close consultation with our clients on all our developments," he says."
Svensson also considers the bank's history to have played a part in its success. "All our applications have been developed based on our position as a northern European bank. In this role, we are used to following our clients – companies and financial institutions – out into the global arena." Few regions are as dependent on exports as the Nordic region, with technical developments driven by a high degree of industrialization and a small domestic market.
For the past few years SEB has based the majority of its cash management offering on its internet-based multifunction platform – C&I Online (Corporate and Institutional Services Online).
