Comments 1. Reconstruct | October 22 10:22am I was hired by Padraic and later I was fired by Padraic. I am very saddened to hear of his untimely death: in his own way he was a genuine romantic publisher. This was, and is, a lot not to like about Euromoney, but Padraic was irresistable.

Comments 1. neil collins | October 15 11:03am Padraic was a colleague of mine on the Daily Mail before he moved to Euromoney. His mischevious sense of humour was never far from the surface, especially when dealing with chief executives, who were even more pompous then than they are today. It was an enduring pleasure to work with him, and to know him as he built Euromoney into the impressive commercial success it is today. Few journalists can make the transition to successful businessmen, but Padriac did. I salute a great fellow-fisherman, and I like to think of him on some celestial salmon river, a huge fish on the end of the line, and a huge grin on his face. 2. ShortSqueeze | October 15 11:44am @Neil Collins Appropriately warm words 3. Chevelle | October 15 2:17pm Sad news. I remember his chauffeur-driven Subaru adorned with a leaping salmon hood ornament. A knowingly ridiculous combination.

Comments: I can still smell the cigars!! Great guy and a great loss. RIP - Supersonic , London, United Kingdom, 16/10/2012 21:07 Perhaps the city would have been better to have kept the original. For you cannot serve two masters.Nor can you serve God and Mammon .You will love the one and hate the other. - gbzone , London, 16/10/2012 10:32 Padraic was my neighbour for many years, a most charming and delightful man with a lovely family. I'm saddened by this news. - Elisa Bramante , Perugia, 16/10/2012 09:19 Back in the the very late 70's I did a stint as a temp at Euromoney working as the mailboy and remember Mr Fallon well. a very nice person he was. RIP - john mitch , Belfast, 16/10/2012 09:18 "the transition from financial journalism at the Mail to running a business, A RARE ACHIEVEMENT'' That admission is doing a service to your readers. In other words, if investing your money in anything, make your own mind up. Financial writing is coming down with caveats such as "probably, likely, suggesting future returns"- all meaning "I don't know." - TOMATO , LONDON UK, 16/10/2012 00:41 RIP to someone who had REAL talent. - Neejur Kryakshun , AlittlecornerofBlighty, 15/10/2012 22:39

Comments Oct 16, 2012 4:46 am UTC A very nice remembrance of Padraic. In addition to eviscerating poorly written copy, Padraic enjoyed nothing more than shooting and fishing. His chauffeur-driven Jaguar had the jaguar hood ornament replaced by a salmon. I remember that Euromoney had a CFO who was a very serious mountain climber. When he came back from scaling some Himalayan peak, Padraic opened a board meeting by declaring, “I don’t understand how you go all that way, climb to the top, and then don’t kill anything.” Posted by lknobel Oct 16, 2012 5:27 pm UTC Padraic to me in my first interview – “So, you’re an Asia specialist. How do you spell ‘Philippines’?” Posted by MidasLtd
