Barclays demonstrated exceptional breadth across leveraged finance, acquisition finance, structured credit and sponsor-led financing in 2025. Its strengths in underwriting capacity, structuring expertise and deep investor access enabled it to deliver tailored solutions for corporates, sponsors and private capital clients facing complex financing requirements.
Barclays was at the centre of many of India’s most significant financing transactions. In February 2025, it acted as arranger and bookrunner on Carlyle’s $1.26 billion refinancing of Hexaware, the largest sponsor-backed loan arranged in India. The transaction attracted a 33-lender syndicate and an oversubscribed order book, broadening liquidity in India’s leveraged loan market while providing an efficient refinancing solution for the sponsor.
The bank also showcased its structuring expertise in acquisition finance. In March 2025, it arranged and underwrote INR73 billion ($765 million) of debt supporting the Hinduja Group’s acquisition of Reliance Capital. The financing combined listed and unlisted debt instruments and attracted participation from domestic and international investors.
Barclays further demonstrated its ability to create bespoke capital solutions through its role in the $660 million financing for AM Green, which combined equity monetisation, covenant-heavy structures and multi-format investor distribution.
Its alternative financing franchise added further depth. During 2025, Barclays provided financing backed by stakes in Knowledge Realty Trust, Schloss Bangalore and Nexus REIT, as well as completing a $195 million NAV financing for Chrys Capital. These transactions enabled sponsors to unlock liquidity, refinance obligations and optimise capital structures while retaining strategic control of their assets.
