TD Securities expanded its trade finance business in 2025 to address a broader range of clients’ liquidity and cross-border financing needs. Working capital financing became a larger part of an offering supported by investment in specialist staff and digital delivery.
Launched in May, TD Securities‘ trade and working capital strategy extended its established trade finance and export credit agency financing businesses through expanded supply chain and receivables finance capabilities. The bank hired eight senior specialists and created a dedicated operations team for accounts payable and accounts receivable financing. It also completed a six-month selection process for a new supply chain finance platform, laying the groundwork for further digital development.

The expansion translated into practical financing solutions. TD provided receivables financing to a leading bus manufacturer to improve liquidity and working capital efficiency, while a payables finance programme for a major agriscience company supported the prepayment of critical crop inputs. These transactions highlight how the bank applied its expanded capabilities to financing needs arising at different stages of clients’ operating cycles.
Across its broader trade finance business, TD Securities structured and closed 68 transactions worth more than CAD10 billion ($7.1 billion) in 2025, spanning bilateral, syndicated and export credit agency-guaranteed facilities in energy, technology and diversified industries.
“Time and again, optionality proves a reliable compass for navigating uncertainty,” says Lydia Lopiparo, managing director and global head of core trade finance. “In the past year, we closed over CAD10 billion in transactions across a variety of client use cases, powered by the curiosity and creativity of our team, as well as the breadth of our core trade capabilities.”

Alongside this financing activity, TD developed the digital channels through which clients manage trade transactions. It expanded its use of the Swift MT798 standard for structured trade finance messages by accepting those files through Swift FileAct, a file transfer service that gives clients additional flexibility in transmitting documentation.
Investment in TDfacilitrade, the bank’s trade finance platform, and its supporting infrastructure increased automation, transparency and real-time reporting capabilities. TD also advanced authenticated information exchange through its participation in Komgo Global Trade Konnect, a digital trade communication platform, reducing reliance on paper-based processes and improving visibility across trade finance workflows.
Guillermo Aymard, managing director and head of trade and working capital, global transaction banking, says: “Our ethos is clear and simple – are we making things easier for our clients? That means making it easier for them to run their business and easier for them to interact with us. Our clients sit at the heart of everything we do. The latest Euromoney survey shows we are delivering on that goal: NPS +86 with 93% of respondents rating TD as a promoter. We are grateful for our clients’ trust and committed to earning it every day.”
