The strongest workflow automation does more than just complete existing tasks faster. Rather, it changes how decisions pass from portfolio construction to execution, removes avoidable hand-offs and allows firms to scale a controlled process without relying on a small number of specialists.
Bloomberg advanced that model during 2025 through Rule Builder, its multi-asset automation framework embedded across the firm’s order and execution-management products. The technology supports listed equities, futures, options, fixed income, FX and ETFs through the EMSX, TSOX and FXEM execution management systems (EMS) and the AIM order management system (OMS).
Bloomberg’s long-term objective is full automation for appropriate flow trading, with the EMS serving principally as a place to supervise activity and resolve exceptions.
