Schroders hires Buckley for new Asia position

James Buckley as been appointed head of Asia property multi-manager at Schroders, a new position in the firm.

He is based in Hong Kong and reports to Jenny Buck, head of property multi-manager.

Buckley is responsible for research and investment in indirect, unlisted real estate funds in Asia. Previously he was director of investment and acquisition at Harvest Capital Partners.

He also worked for Grosvenor, helping establish three Asian real estate funds and acquiring assets in Tokyo, Osaka and Hong Kong.

"Over the last five years, the non-listed Asian real estate markets have really opened up with lots of opportunities throughout the region," he says.

Buck says Schroders is investing heavily in the global expansion of its property multi-manager business. The team manages £1.5 billion ($2.3 billion) of assets in segregated and pooled funds.
