There are signs that some of the smaller banks in Jordan are starting to provide genuine competition in the market particularly because of their readiness to look at more sophisticated ways of raising money, such as bonds and equity flotation.
Arab Bank, though still criticized for its conservatism, dominates the market in terms of size, and is both a local and regional player. It has also shown its readiness to broaden its activities with the purchase of Jordanian investment bank Atlas.
