Best site for FX research and analytics: UBS Warburg

UBS Warburg wins this award again this year because, more than any other bank, it has thought carefully about how to arrange its online editorial, and about how to use the internet to inform its clients in ways that it couldn't before.

One new feature on the site is FX Bottomline, a new toolbar that clients can leave open in a corner of their screen. This displays the latest headlines and trader commentary, as well as providing links to UBS Warburg's trading sites, all without the need to open its research portal, FX Web.

Another unusual, if not new, aspect of FX Web is its Dealing Floor Buzz. This is commentary that is posted to the site directly from the trading floor, material that the bank has been using internally for several years. It is well presented and easily available information, giving clients an immediate insight into market colour, previously available only by phone.

Editorial control of the site as a whole is tight. In-house e-journalists oversee the site and ensure that there is no overlap in content. They also scan all chat lines used on the forex floor, looking for interesting pieces of information, from which they remove any market-sensitive or client-sensitive references before publishing them.
