Best site for fixed income analytics

Best site for fixed income analytics
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter

The Morgan Stanley Dean Witter e-commerce philosophy is that as trading moves onto consortium platforms, providing research and analytics will become more important. This philosophy stretches across the range, from fixed income to foreign exchange.

Most firms agree that this is how the role of the investment bank is developing and will continue to develop in fixed income over the next few years. But deciding how clients should use those analytics tools has proven to be a challenge. Some firms have succeeded in building tailored portfolio modeling sites for preferred clients, but so far only MSDW has proven that it can bring sophisticated analytics to a mass audience, and to niches within that mass audience. Privately, its executives are arrogant about what the firm has been able to do. “We are the only firm with good enough data for this,” says one.

The MSCI fixed income indices page forms part of the main Client Link suite of online  services. It has 1900 users, or two-thirds of the clients list, and it gets five times more internal usage than the other areas of the site put together. The page is clear and easy to use, and it is customized to display figures such as dates in a way that suits the country the user is accessing the site from.
