Mashreq spent the review period strengthening a claim that few regional institutions can make credibly: that a home-grown Middle Eastern bank can compete with global transaction banking leaders not by imitating them but by building a model tailored to the region’s increasingly sophisticated trade, treasury and payments flows.
The Dubai-based bank combines a broad geographic footprint spanning the GCC, Egypt, India, Hong Kong, the UK and US with a technology-led proposition that is increasingly centred on real-time connectivity, embedded banking and industry-specific solutions.
“We start by understanding what the client is trying to achieve,” explains Vivek Batra, Mashreq’s global head of transaction banking.
