Best Islamic bank 2025: ADIB Egypt
ADIB Egypt has firmly established itself as the foremost Islamic bank in Egypt through a series of considerable achievements, robust financial growth and innovative customer-centred products.
In terms of financial performance, ADIB Egypt has showcased impressive growth, reflected in a remarkable 93% increase in net profit totalling approximately EGP9 billion ($280 million). Simultaneously, the bank’s total assets surged by 61%, reaching EGP260 billion, with customer deposits growing to EGP200 billion – a EGP73 billion increase.
Innovation at ADIB Egypt is equally noteworthy, particularly with the launch of Elgina, a pioneering product designed for high net-worth individuals. This blended product combines elements of sukuk with current and savings accounts, available to private banking clients, with a minimum deposit requirement of EGP20 million. The bank’s innovative stance is further underlined by the introduction of floating-rate sukuk and deposits, aligning with customer needs for flexible, Shariah-compliant banking solutions.
The bank’s corporate banking segment has significantly enhanced its service offerings by integrating with E-Finance for streamlined online tax and government payments. Growth of ADIB Remit stands out, facilitating easier remittances for Egyptians residing abroad, thereby enriching their connection to home financially.
Retail banking has also seen transformative changes, with initiatives enabling online sukuk purchases and advanced ATM functionalities. These include foreign currency exchange, cash recycling, and contactless transactions, topped with an environmentally friendly ‘go green’ option for paperless receipts. Such initiatives underscore ADIB Egypt’s commitment not only to its customers but also to environmental sustainability.
Further enhancements in customer service have been achieved through the expansion of workflow automation and customer relationship management systems, ensuring that ADIB Egypt remains at the forefront of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
These outstanding achievements demonstrated by ADIB Egypt across multiple facets of its operations affirm its position as the leading Islamic bank in Egypt.
Best Islamic local currency deal 2025: Giza Systems US$48 million and EGP1.1 billion five-year facilities and US$36 million and EGP1.8 billion one-year facilities
Giza System’s recent $84 million and EGP2.82 billion package fuses mudarabah profit-sharing with murabaha cost-plus sales across multiple tranches, enabling the borrower to replace its entire conventional debt stack with instruments that meet Islamic principles and secure lower costs.
Dedicated working-capital tranches further support the borrower’s integrated technology solutions across telecommunications, infrastructure, oil and gas, transport, smart buildings and manufacturing.
The structure’s innovation lies in its depth and reach. Demand from regional and local banks outstripped supply by 1.7x, despite the toughest operating conditions in years, and offshore participants provided the only dollar-denominated private sector debt instrument seen in Egypt during 2024.
Al Baraka Bank Egypt and ADIB Egypt acted as arrangers on this transaction.
