“People at Galicia act like owners,” says one equity analyst who covers the bank. That is a culture that, as Argentina’s largest private-sector bank, is not easy to foster, but chief executive Fabián Kon says it is a deliberate one.
“There is a very close relationship between employees at all levels and the bank,” he says. “It is a culture that could be compared to one of a family and one that was promoted and maintained by the controlling shareholders – members of the families who founded the bank more than 110 years ago.
