The ability to hold a tune may not be top of the list of talents required to succeed in the cut-throat structured finance industry – but that could all be set to change. Not many sectors of the capital markets industry can boast their very own band but the ABS market can: the painfully entitled D’Leverage.

Their triumphant debut at the Global ABS Conference in Barcelona last month was met with rapturous

applause by a crowd well-oiled with free champagne, courtesy of monoline insurer FGIC. Band members were Jim Savitsky of Markit on guitar and vocals; Rob Ford of Synapse Investment Management on keyboards; Adrian Carr of Credit Suisse on bass and Morgan Baker of Eurocatalyst on drums. A succession of guest vocalists took to the stage as the performance progressed, a scene reminiscent of the popular TV series Pop Idol.
