More companies in UK winding up

The Department for Constitutional Affairs has published statistics for company winding up, and creditors' and debtors' bankruptcy petitions issued in the High Court and county courts of England and Wales during the first quarter of 2005. In the first quarter of 2005 the following number of petitions were issued:

The Department for Constitutional Affairs has published statistics for company winding up, and creditors’ and debtors’ bankruptcy petitions issued in the High Court and county courts of England and Wales during the first quarter of 2005. In the first quarter of 2005 the following number of petitions were issued:

– 2,892 company winding up petitions – an increase of over 10% on the petitions in the same quarter of 2004;

– 4,861 creditors’ petitions – an increase of nearly 7% on the petitions in the same quarter of 2004;

– 7,528 debtors’ petitions – an increase of nearly 47% on the petitions in the same quarter of 2004.
