Brazilian hedge fund Kairos Asset Management (KAM), are using StreamBase’s complex event processing (CEP) platform to “support high frequency trading strategies across multiple asset classes, including derivatives, foreign exchanges and equities.”

KAM has been using the platform as the basis of its trading systems and algorithmic execution since October last year; it’s the phrase “across multiple asset classes” that is of note.

Trading just one asset class across multiple time zones can be problematic – just when is best liquidity for AUD/BRL? – but to implement and hedge a strategy that comprises different assets that may trade on geographically disparate exchanges is a whole different order of complexity.
