Foreign exchange debate: The future’s bright despite the tough fines

Paul Lambert (PL – chair) joined Polar Capital in November 2005 as director of currency/macro strategies. He was at Deutsche Asset Management as global head of currency and the senior investor on a wider global macro platform. He was also the chair of DeAM’s economic forum and a member of the fixed-income portfolio selection team.

Olivier Garnier (OG) is deputy general manager of Société Générale Asset Management (SGAM), where he chairs the global investment strategy committee. Previously, he was the economic adviser to the French minister of finance from 1994 to 1997. He also worked as an economist at the French Treasury and at the US Federal Reserve Board.

Richard Olsen (RO) is an economic researcher in high-frequency finance. He is co-founder of Oanda, a market maker and information source for currency; is chief executive of Olsen Ltd, an investment manager, and visiting professor at the Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Agents at the University of Essex.
Ed Pla (EP) is a managing director in the foreign exchange and money markets, trading division of UBS Investment Bank, Zurich. He is the global head of FX prime services with product development and marketing responsibility for FX prime brokerage, API-related services and the FX services provided to UBS’s equity and fixed-income prime brokerage clients.
Ian Green (IG) is a managing director of Credit Suisse in the investment banking division, based in London. He is a member of the FX global foreign exchange department and head of algorithmic and electronic trading for FX. Before, he was head of derivatives IT since inception and, before that, head of IT for European equities trading.
David Bloom (DB) is global head of foreign exchange strategy for HSBC and has been with the group for more than 16 years. Before taking up his present post, specializing in currencies and market strategies, he was the US economist for the investment bank at HSBC.
Collin Crownover (CC) is head of currency management for SSgA globally. He joined SSgA in 2006 and has more than 10 years’ experience with sell-side and buy-side firms in developing innovative currency research. He joined SSgA from Citigroup in New York and London, where he was global head of the investor risk advisory team.
Matthew Cobon (MC) is head of currency fund management at Aberdeen Asset Management. He joined following the purchase of Deutsche Asset Management London, where he began investing in FX in 2001. Before that he worked for Citibank foreign exchange advising real money and leveraged investors on FX.
Chico Khan-Gandapur (CKG) is a managing director at Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking. Based in London, he is the global head of flow fixed income and foreign exchange.
Neehal Shah (NS) is a managing director in the institutional client coverage group at Deutsche Bank. He is the global head of FX Investor sales, and European head of EM Investor sales. He was previously global head of currency options trading.
