Shared Service Centre Salary and Benefits Survey

Managers in the UK receive higher fixed compensation compared to their colleagues in Continental Europe, according to a just-released Shared Service Centre Salary & Benefits Survey. This is the first time that Robert Half International and IQPC have conducted a poll of this kind to determine salary levels amongst finance and accounting staff within Shared Service Centres (SSC) and to highlight key trends in regards to the organization of a SSC.

Highlights of key findings:

-                                 Specialists such as internal auditors or controllers, in general, receive higher salaries than team leaders.

-                                 General ledger specialists are better compensated than A/R and A/P accountants.

-                                 In general, salaries begin to grow more than proportionally after three years of experience in the job.

-                                 The gap within the position widens most at the 'Professional' level, which is due to the changing demand for specific profiles. For example, IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley project specialists will more than likely receive better compensation compared to a systems accountant or area controller.

"It's important to conduct a survey of this kind in order to keep abreast trends of occurring in this specialised sector," says Tim Hird, Director Major Accounts with Robert Half International.
