Best bank: CaixaBank
Despite its dominance of the Spanish banking market, CaixaBank has continued to grow – and grow its profitability alongside it. Return on tangible equity reached 17.5% in 2025, allowing it to increase its 2027 target to 20%.
In the first year of its three-year plan, it beat all its volume targets set out in late 2024 across loans, customer funding and insurance.
“In 2025, we executed strongly on the strategy we outlined in November 2024,” says Gonzalo Gortázar, CEO.
