Awards for Excellence national winners 2026: Ireland

Best bank: Bank of Ireland

Bank of Ireland demonstrated robust financial and operational momentum in 2025, building on the back of a profitable 2024.The bank’s lending in its home market, including Northern Ireland, expanded by 6%, matching a similar rise in deposits and pushing profit before tax to €1.4 billion, while the group generated 270 basis points of organic capital, enough to fund a full-payout €1.2 billion distribution to shareholders.

Momentum was driven by its dominant mortgage franchise: the bank financed about 16,000 home purchases during the year and captured 42% of new mortgage drawdowns, up two points on 2024.
