CEE’s best for consumer lending 2026: Garanti BBVA

Garanti BBVA has built its 2025 retail story on consumer credit, completing a long-running transition from a corporate-focused lender to a consumer-led franchise where credit cards and general purpose loans now drive both balance sheet growth and customer acquisition.

At the heart of the consumer credit franchise sits Bonus Card, Garanti BBVA’s chip-based multi-brand credit card programme that pioneered the loyalty linked card model in Turkey and remains the country’s largest card scheme.

Cards also serve as the principal gateway for bringing new customers into the bank, alongside corporate salary mandates won at the employer level rather than from individual borrowers.

Despite the sector-wide slowdown in newly bankable adults, Garanti BBVA still finished 2025 having added more new credit customers than any rival.
