Absa’s retail banking strategy is built around a clear objective: using technology, data and its pan-African scale to make banking simpler, safer and more relevant for customers across the continent.

The South Africa-based bank has moved beyond treating digital as a distribution channel, instead embedding it in the core of its retail operating model – from onboarding and payments to lending, customer service, financial inclusion and security.

“We are building a truly pan‑African bank, powered by a connected digital strategy that places the customer at the centre,” says Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, chief executive of personal and private banking at Absa Group.
