The result of an unprecedented three-way merger between Bulbank, HVB Bank Biochim and Hebros Bank in early 2007, UniCredit Bulbank is the undisputed banking heavyweight champion in Bulgaria, boasting more than Lev7.5 billion ($5.1 billion) in assets. With about 300 branches and close to a million clients, the bank is certainly big. But in alliance with various UniCredit Group subsidiaries it is also clever and so can justifiably lay claim to being Bulgaria’s top provider of financial services.
