Banco Agrícola Comercial is not only the largest bank in El Salvador, it is also the largest bank in Central America. Its equity of $216 million puts it ahead of Banco General and Banco del Istmo, as well as all of Costa Rica’s state banks, and its Salvadorean rival Banco Cuscatlan. Its $24 million of profits in 2000 – 20% ahead of Cuscatlan’s figure – make it the best bank in El Salvador.
