Asia’s population means many banks here have a larger quantum of growth than peers elsewhere, especially in terms of relationship acquisition. Underpenetrated retail lending markets, coupled with high economic growth and savings rates, are also powering growth in retail banking in the region. While Chinese and Indian banks dominate Euromoney’s retail-banking growth in absolute terms, banks in Southeast Asia’s big retail markets are now growing fastest in percentage terms.
