Excellence for Euromoney’s awards

The most difficult task I have at Euromoney is judging the Awards for Excellence for the best FX house.

The levels of service and degree of innovation provided by institutions from the retail level right through to the behemoths that dominate the Euromoney FX poll are generally very good. Furthermore, I would argue that I have the hardest award to judge because FX is the most professional financial market out there.

Even if I were a client of every institution that submits a pitch, the ultimate decision remains highly subjective. This year, the process will be even more difficult because of the sub-prime crisis. There are many worthwhile stories to be told and it may be that innovation will not prove as decisive as it has in previous years. Consistency will obviously be important, but I would also like to hear about things that went on behind the scenes for the overall good of the industry. One such event that springs to mind is how the market coped with the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

If you have something you think would qualify for the award, don't be afraid to pitch – it’s an open contest.
