ACI dinner: The good old days

It was off to the swanky Coq d’Argent in the City last night for ACI UK’s regular first Thursday drinks party.

More on ACI UK

Turnout was exceptional and the evening was great fun. The event was kindly sponsored by RBC Dexia, UBS, Brookleigh Search and Selection, CME, FXMarketSpace, Cater Allen Private Bank, Hotspot, Profit & Loss and Reddbook, who paid for the venue and the drinks. I don’t think I was the only person there who drank enough to ensure I got full value from my annual membership.

I’ve mentioned before that the ACI UK is not as well supported as it should be. Sadly, most of the crowd there last night fall into what I’d call the ‘old git’ category. The ACI has always been great for networking – and that remains the case. I met some old friends, made a few new ones and had some lively banter with a couple of people who don’t fully agree with my views on certain subjects – but as I always say, it’s opinions that make markets. What would be nice is if some younger blood joined. But that will only happen when banks and brokers get fully behind the ACI as they used to in the old days.
