US idolatry’s new frontier

First there was Pop Idol, then American Idol, and now what amounts to Internship Idol.

In conjunction with the upcoming Will Smith film, Pursuit of Happyness, Sony Pictures has been running a competition for internships at eight corporations, including Morgan Stanley. The applicants to “Pursue It” have submitted videos of themselves explaining their mottos for life and what unique qualities they have that make them deserving of an internship. Semi-finalists’ videos have been posted on www.grouper.com and put to the public vote. The result was to be announced as Euromoney went to press. The top two chosen by the public will be granted a phone interview with Morgan Stanley for a 10-week internship within its wealth management division.
