Kraft Foods invests USD 5 mln in new facility

The Brazilian subsidiary of the US Kraft Foods has inaugurated a new facility of powder products in the industrial complex of Curitiba, state of Parana, where it invested USD 5 million. In Brazil, Kraft Foods commercializes the juice brands Tang, Clight, Fresh, Ki-Suco and Q-refres-ko, and the dessert and ferment brand Royal. The Brazilian juices market moved 2.4 billion liters in 2004. According to the institute ACNielsen from January to September 2005 sales in the segment increase by 17 percent. Also, Brazilian dessert market increased by 11 percent from January to September 2005, while ferment market increased 5.6 percent in the same period. In 2004 dessert and ferment markets moved 2 million metric tons and 7.6 million metric tons respectively. In 2004, Kraft Foods turned over BRL 2.9 billion in Brazil.
