Best cross-product trading platform for private clients: Saxo Bank

Several good firms now cater for the private-client market with cross-product sites, and they have slightly different approaches.

But the clear leader in this category is Saxo Bank. Its cross-product trading platform has the widest variety of products, and is easily the most customizable platform of its kind. Financial consultants can even white label the whole site – other banks such as Merrill Lynch provide the ability to do that – but clients can also pick exactly which boxes appear on the homepage.

For example, clients might want a box of tradeable forex prices in one corner – Saxo provides 110 different currency combinations. They might want some forex analytics too – Saxo has everything from hourly to 20-year charts, presented in formats ranging from candlesticks to parabolic charts. It has similar functionality for equities and contracts for difference, covering about 15 exchanges, and for each stock the platform provides news from AFX, the company’s financial fundamentals, and stock price history. The platform is also provided with forex and equity research and analytics from Deutsche Bank. Clients can click through from the analytics to trade the instrument analyzed, or can drag instruments from analytics into a trading box, and trade it from there.
